Blind for a Day!

So as an education major you are required to take a Special Education class that teaches you how to handle special need students in your classroom. It is a great class and a lot of it is based off of simulation activities. One day we did an activity where we were blind for the hour. We had to put on a mask, and glasses and all we had was a stick. I loved the activity and it certainly made me more thankful for my eyesight. But it was pretty challenging. We had to find our way to the elevator and meet our teacher in the lobby. Once we got to the lobby we linked arms and she lead us to a different building. We had to do all these tasks along the way like ask for help, find a drinking fountain and take a drink, and find our way back by ourselves just using a stick to guide us. Luckily I knew the path extremely well but the hardest thing was knowing what was coming up but not knowing where you were. Like I knew a big sign in the middle of the sidewalk was in our path but I had no idea how close I was to it so I didn't know when I had to move out of the way. It was definitely an experience I will never forget!
